For those of you unfamiliar with our Facebook group, here's what it's all about.
"What's on, ClubComm?"
The affiliated Facebook group of the old ClubComm website http://groups.msn.com/clubcomm , informing you of monthly events for you and your friends.
Q. So what exactly is this “ClubComm” you speak of?
ClubComm WAS an interactive and exclusive clubbing community, which has evolved into an events organisation. The soon to be upgraded website, http://groups.msn.com/clubcomm , has everything you need to know about the popular pubs, clubs and bars in Sydney. And I mean everything- drink prices, cover charges, type of music, type of crowd, what to wear, how to get there etc.
Q. Ok then. What’s the point of this Facebook group “What’s on, ClubComm?”?
This Facebook group will organise monthly days and nights out because, let’s face it, everyone likes to attend Facebook events, but no one can be stuffed creating them.
There will be various Club nights out that you can attend and share with your friends, depending on what music you're into:-
1) Indie Alternate Nights Out
2) Hip Hop Nights Out
3) Electro House Nights Out etc.
Next, there will be Bar Nights Out, which are for those who prefer to enjoy a couple of drinks with friends and aren't into the whole clubbing scene.
Finally, there will be "Day-vents" (that's short for Day Events) which are especially for those Clubcommers who are over clubbing, work nights, or don't want to have late ones in the city.
So the next time you’re thinking “Hmm, i want to go out this weekend, but i don’t know what’s on, where to go, or how to get a guestlist together...”, let “What’s On, ClubComm?” take care of that. Why take a chance when ClubComm can guarantee a good day or night out?

2009. 09. The LockDown II

It's that time of the year again, ClubComm's second birthday, and we're celebrating it the only way we know how - a massive night at Q and the Courthouse.
Last year, The LockDown was ClubComm's highlight of 2008, so this year Take 2 is going going to be, well, TWICE as good.
Why you ask?
-- For starters, Friday 27th November is the end of exams, the weather's nice, and you're probably looking for a place to catch up with those people you call "friends"...
-- SoSueMe @ Q Bar just so happens to be the hippest place around. It's 99% genre so you're sure to be musically satisfied (i'm talkin' live alternate bands earlier, nu disco dj's later, hip hop ghetto classics in one room, and party bangers at any given time)
--Next, you'll be partying it up with your favourite commas, and because it's our second birthday - there will be free party bags on arrival (or in last year's case, lolly-envelopes)
--As always, you will all be guestlisted for cheap entry and be treated to Q bars drink specials and SoJuiceMe buckets all night.
--And if you can't be stuffed to nightride/taxi home, you're welcome to book a room to crash at the Courthouse Hotel- Cheapest ClubCommodation in town!- $65 single/$75 double room. Split with friends and book now!!
So that's it. ClubComm turns 2 at Q. Are you a comma?
And for the record, ClubComm is in no way affiliated with any uni societies, Commerce clubs, Communications groups, Communist parties, Cults, Club promoters, or the likes. Its just unique events for friends and friends of friends. And seeing you've been invited, someone you know must be going, and someone thinks you should go too. Simple no?

2009. 08. Club Sandwich

ClubComm is heating it up this September by delivering you a toasty treat on Sunday the 27th.
We've arranged what we like to call a "Night Club Sandwich" at the aptly named Melt Bar.
DJ's will be serving musical flavours sure to satisfy any music taste. From cheesy classics, to meaty bass and crunchy electro, ClubComm's Mon Ami (of Drama. Drama.), Rockleigh (of Le Night) and Crooklyn Crawler will be layering the goodness into the early morning. Or drop by earlier for some live juicy jazz music.
Think of it as a Parklife warm up or a DefQon1 comedown, a mid sem catch up or a Sunday chill out. As ClubComm is NOT a uni society, all are welcome, so feel free to invite your friends.
And given the global financial crisis, this mouthwatering meal of music is on the house - that's right, free entry and $5 drinks all night. We've even got classy cocktail jugs happening.
If this looks like something you want a bite of, simple hit attending and we'll see you there.

2009. 07. NightRider

ClubComm's private party bus has finally arrived. We present to you... the NightRider - the party on wheels which will transport you all the way to a very special King's Cross Pub Crawl, or whatever other plans you have that night.
First stop - your 'hood. Well, your 'hood's closest station actually. From 6pm, we'll be picking up from Hurstville (6pm), Strathfield (6:45pm) and Chatswood (7:30pm).
Next, the party begins on the bus. BYO drinks (no glass.. duh), pumping music on board and maybe even some karao-comma. It will literally be pre-drinks on the go.
And finally, the bus will drop you off at our party central destination - King's Cross of course. We've got a section the Empire Hotel reserved for our commas, with champagne and canapes from 9pm. But because one place is not enough, we've planned a little King's Cross crawl. Now this isn't your average pub crawl, oh no...
Wait for it.... 5 BARS with 5 BUCK DRINKS. Global Financial Crisis, eat your heart out.
Over to the important part - shotgunning your seat on board. There are limited seats obviously, so hit attending NOW with your preferred boarding destination. Tickets must be pre-purchased from a ClubComm exec and are only $20.
And remember, if you can't make the bus ride due to work etc, just join us at Empire Hotel after 9pm.
And vice versa, if you can't make the crawl because of 21sts etc, just come for the bus ride. Too easy.
Are you a double decker comma?

2009. 06. Vegas, Baby!
Due to popular demand, ClubComm's throwing an extra event in June. We realised that some of you were absolutely distraught about not being able to make 'EPICNIC!' because of exams, so this is our way of making it up to you, in true trash-vegas style.
Welcome to... Casino de Comma. Upstairs Mandalay Room at the Vegas Hotel. Your official end of semester party. It's sure to be one unforgettable night. However with the cheap drinks we've organised, that could change...
For all you punters keen to gamble the night away, put your poker faces on because we've got poker and black jack tables for your gaming pleasure. As for you dancing fiends and music junkies, ClubComm's resident DJ's Drama. Drama. will be bringing the beats and entertainment with their live interactive performance.
Did someone say shotgun wedding? Well that's what you get for waking up in Vegas.
With the cheapest drinks in the cross, Vegas Baby! is the perfect pre-drinks/ post-party destination. Now I'm talking
-$4 Becks, Coronas
-$5 Bacardi and Colas, selected shots
-$6 Vodka+Energy (our secret Comma Kicka Concoction)
-$7 cocktails
For a measly $10 cover, these specials are available for you all night. Allllll night.
Whatsmore, we're celebrating Scott Comma's birthday. Hip hip Hooray! See, that's what makes ClubComm events different from your average club night out... it's personal. So invite your friends down and join the Comma family.
Are you a Casino Comma?
2009. 05. EPICNIC!
So you've been to a picnic... But have you been to an EPICNIC?
ClubComm presents yet another unique event that is sure to be... well, EPIC.
Here's the plan... We're taking all your favourite picnic essentials - picnic blankets, BBQ goodies, sandwiches, drinks, snacks, sporting paraphernalia, etc. and making them EPIC.
Now we're talking gourmet food, olympic style sports, colossal cocktails, monumental music, jumbo boardgames and... wait for it... Comma kite flying!
Oh yeah, we went there.
I know it's not like the typical event you get spammed with, but here at ClubComm we like to mix things up a bit for our loyal non-clubby Commas. (And for the clubby ones, we've got EPIC after party plans and a warehouse party in the works next month, don't you worry...) Plus dayvents are all the rage. It's a great way to casually catch up with mates or meet some new ones. Go on, do it.....
For more details, check the map attached and keep you're eyes peeled for our very own EPICNIC trailer. (Closest station is Concord West... we'll hit you with some super fine directions closer to the date.)
And of course, and we'd love to hear your EPIC suggestions.
Are you a peanut butter jelly Comma?

2009. 04. Gin & Tonic

A weeknight club night is precisely what every good uni student wants a couple of week before exams.
So come on down to Tonic and party the night away in style. It's going to be one hell of an event - think chic house party meets musical mash-up bonanza. Plus we've arranged $5 drinks (including G &T's) all night for you lovely, lovely people.
9pm - We've got some live music by Jordan Millar
10:30pm - Drama. Drama. take to the decks (that's ClubComm's own Monisha and Carlo if you were wondering...)
12am - close - Le Night wraps up the show, banging tunes into the early morning..
Tickets are $10 pre-sold, and $15 on the door. Very limited capacity, so make sure you get them quick from Mark Isaacs or a ClubCommittee member.

2009. 03. Comma-kazi

Just when you thought Facebook event names couldn't get any more obscure, ClubComm hits you with "Comma-kazi: Pub Crawl through The Rocks"... Oh come on, it's not that bad.. ClubComm, Commas, Commandos, army theme - it's Anzac Day eve after all (hence the randomly related kamikaze reference) - and it's a competitive pub crawl, or for our purposes, a pub war!
So comrades, your duty is to report to Ship Inn (just walking distance from Circular Quay station on Alfred St), dressed in your army bests. That's right, khaki and cargos! Okay, you don't have to, but if you want to score bonus points for your side, go for it - it's a "war" remember?
Details of our locations through the night will be available closer to the date. We don't want our top secret strategic plans to fall into the wrong hands now do we? But I can tell you there will be games, pub golf and all kinds of shenanigans.
And as always, ClubComm's got your back for post-pub war activities - we're setting up "Booty Camp" at an urban club for all you hip hop lovers, and as for the other Dance Commanders, we'll be posting you somewhere too.
So your battle awaits you - Are you a Commando Comma?

2009. 02. Office Ho's and CEO's

ClubComm presents it's first themed bar night to date. With sexy secretaries and men in suits, i think you ought to put this one in your business calendar ASAP.
Held at the very appropriate and office-y Privilege Bar in the heart of Sydney CBD, we're calling our Commas and their semi-colon friends to come get their corporate chic on. It's just on George St, between Wynyard and Town hall stations, so you can't get lost.
Kicking off at the after work/uni special time of 5pm, drop by in your sharpest suit for a drink or two (happy hour from 5pm-8pm), maybe grab a meal with your new Comma "colleagues", and then we'll guestlist you at a range of Sydney's top clubs to kick on to.
And no, we're not being sexist by insisting females must dress as Ho's... Girls are more than welcome to come as CEO's of course (and vice versa, if guys feel like coming as Ho's, be our guest!)

2009. 01. Decks on the Beach
It's Summer. It's Sunday. It's time to relax at the beach.
ClubComm presents it's first event for 2009 that is sure to be the perfect comedown after Future Music Fest or a big Saturday Night.
It's also the perfect opportunity to catch up with those people you said you would catch up with over the summer but didn't.
You bring your beach gear, maybe some food and bevvies, and we'll bring some of the coolest Comma's in town and some chillout beats.
And yes, we may swing by the Coogee Bay Hotel for a bite to eat later....

ClubComm Revamp 2009
Here's the email that went out to our 200 members at the start of 2009, marking the new direction of ClubComm and our signature logo.
Are you a comma... or a semi colon?
Yes, it's the age old question that has plagued our forefathers for generations.
- A Comma is any supporter of ClubComm- any person that attended (or planned to attend) one of the 12 events we held last year, any member of this Facebook group to some degree, and anyone who visited the old website.
- A Semi-colon is any person who attends the events but isn't in this group, or any person in this group because someone pressured them into joining but doesn't plan on ever attending an event. Which is cool... i appreciate your support but i apologise for event spamming you! You're permitted to leave if you like :-)
So now that we've cleared that up, i formally welcome you to ClubComm 2009 - The Year of the Comma. New logo, new management, new events. A big thank you to all the fantastic officer in 08, some more active than others, and all the people that plug plug plugged all the events. FYI, over 300 different people attended our various events... not bad in one year eh?
The big announcement is that ClubComm is going to be registered as an official organisation this month... That's right, this little social network of friends is going pro. That means every event from now on will be massive. It also means we have to appoint REAL officers and establish a working commitee. If you think you've got what it takes, or you want to jump on board before it grows exponentially, email me pronto. And yes, you can put it on your resumes. We're looking for a:-
- Vice President
- Art Director
- Official Photographer
- Resident Dj
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Legal Adviser
- Business Consultant
... or anything else you come up with really! All you need to have is commitment and passion for this cause. You've got to come to meetings and come to the functions. The aim is to make everyone who is anyone a Comma, which means everyone knows someone in common. It's like Facebook in real life.
We are also looking at promoting and showcasing the talents of our Commas, so Musicians, Bands, Dj's, Dancers, Singers, Photographers, Fashion Designers, Rappers, Models, Pornstars, Comedians, Sportsmen, etc get in touch with us!
Upcoming events include (but not limited to) Beach days, themed bar nights, pub crawls, picnics, warehouse parties, exclusive club nights, fashion shows, camps, party buses, food fairs, competitions and more.

The History of ClubComm
It began in June 2007.
An overly enthusiastic 18 year old, Monisha Ponnaiya, decided that she would set herself a personal challenge to go to every pub, club and bar in Sydney by the time she turned 19. In order to complete such a feat, she compiled a list of about 200 venues in Sydney and commenced her crawl through the city streets, documenting her findings in one extensive Microsoft Word document.
As she was updating her list during a uni lecture, a friend suggested that she put the information on a website. And so the Ninemsn web group 'ClubComm' was born. ClubComm was an amalgamation of the words "Clubbing Community" - an interactive and exclusive clubbing community to be precise.
By March 2008, the group was 70 members strong, and in keeping with the times, the group made the shift to Facebook in the form of the group "What's on, ClubComm?" Here, the aim was to organise fortnightly events for Monisha's friends given her new found knowledge of interesting Sydney venues.
Since then, the group expanded, the events got bigger and this blog was launched in January 2009. Who knows what will happen next...
